Meeting!!

Wanted to let everyone know the Sept meeting is Sept 10th at the fairgrounds

It’s our annual meeting and we vote as long as your dues are paid. We are going to grill hamburgers and hotdogs it’s going to be our last warm weather meeting. If the weather is nice we will eat outside on the picnic tables. If you did not get your shirt last meeting I’ll have them this meeting. Please bring something that will go with hotdogs and hamburgers. We do have watermelon coming.

We also talked about doing t-shirts with a logo of our club logo plus all the dogs in our club. I have a heat press machine so I can make us shirts for roughly $10.00 each I’ll post here a picture of the design.

Hope to see everyone there

Ellie

Upcoming Classes

We need volunteers to step up and teach our new schedule of classes!  As our bylaws say we cannot pay any member as an employee, we have also decided that we no longer wish to private contract our classes out as we had done for years.

What it comes down to is we simply need more volunteers to help us with this community outreach and fund raising venture.  Specifically, we need people (and we really need at least one man) to rotate through to teach handling classes on Monday nights.  Ruth has offered to teach every other week.  Duties will include putting down and taking up mats, inspecting each dog as in a conformation class, collecting money and getting it to Scotti, having every person sign a waiver of liability.

Tina will be teaching Rally on Monday nights.  This will be after handling.

We also have plans for Wednesday nights.  We want to offer Scent classes which Scotti will teach.  As she is wheelchair bound, we need a volunteer to construct and set up the hides.

The final class we hope to offer is Puppy Socialization aimed at puppies between 13 and 24 weeks of age. This will be a fun class, NOT a basic obedience class.

Please contact Ruth about volunteering ASAP as we hope to begin classes the first week in August.  Our classes are not planned to have definite lengths, (the previous model was on ten week semesters which left too many weeks where nothing happened), they will be run as the instructor chooses, usually with a drop-in option.

As a reminder, Gary offers his handling class on Tuesday nights, and we will continue to have our meetings in the Whitacre Building the first Thursday of every month (the Fairgrounds has let us sneak in here for free as long as we don't make any money beyond collecting dues).  This should effectively block anyone else from offering classes of any kind in our venue.

A Great Big Thank You!!

We had a great Obedience and Rally trial in June.  We made $3,000!  Thank you so much to everyone who helped out and made this event possible.
