Classes are on Monday nights in the Whitacre building. Frederick County Fairgrounds, Clear Brook, VA,
yes the building is heated and cooled!
January 2025 classes:
5:30 -- Basic Obedience $200 for ten weeks
6:30 -- Good Foundations (must have basic obedience skills) $200 for ten weeks
7:30 -- Scent Work (beginners encouraged!) $125 for ten weeks, $75 per additional dog
8:30 -- Rally (must have basic obedience skills) $125 for ten weeks, $75 per additional dog
Handling class will resume in April!
Dogs must have current Rabies to participate. First come, first served as space allows.

Basic Obedience
Teach your puppy or adult dog basics (sit, heel, stay, place, leave it, and come), socialize, and learn how to problem solve. Puppies and adult dogs must be 5 months or older and up to date on vaccines. Deborah Andoetoe, instructor.
Dogs under one year can earn their S.T.A.R. Puppy and every dog can earn their CGC and CGCA!
Do not bring your dogs the first week, bring proof of vaccines. Classes are $200 for the full ten-week course. Ask about club member and FFA/4H discounts. Contact the instructor at info@shawneekennelclub.org or call 703-543-7211 to reserve your spot!
Classes will resume on January 6th. Applications are being accepted now! $200 for a 10 week course with the CGC or CGCA option. May take both tests on the same night, but must pass the CGC to be eligible for CGCA. Only one test included with class fee.
4H and FFA Dog Enthusiasts!
In support of our younger dog enthusiasts, we offer discounted classes to 4H, FFA , and Junior Handlers in conformation and performance classes.
Good Foundations
Open to puppies and dogs 6 months and older who have already completed a Basic Obedience or puppy kindergarten class. Not sure which dog sport you want to pursue? Good Foundations will introduce you to many different activities, providing a foundation for everything from agility to scent work to more advanced obedience and rally experiences. Ten-week classes plus the opportunity to test for CGC and CGCA. Dogs must have current Rabies to participate. Deborah Andoetoe, instructor.
Good Foundations starts on January 6 at 6:30. This class is $200 for a ten week course. This includes a CGC or CGCA test at the end. Applications are now being accepted. Dogs who were not in this instructor's Basic Obedience class will need to be evaluated for skills the first class.

Scent Work
Open to puppies and dogs 6 months and older. We will start with birch and add other scents. Learn or practice basic containers, indoor hides, high, low, and good signal practices.
Scent work will begin on January 6th at 7:30. Applications are now being accepted.
$125 for the first dog for a ten week session.
$75 for each additional dog per session.

Handling Class
Open to puppies and dogs 3 months and older. Drop-in style handling with more instruction available to beginning handlers.
We will resume our Drop-in handling in 2025. Keep an eye on this space to determine the day and time! All classes are held in the Whitacre building at the Frederick County Fairgrounds in Clear Brook, VA.
Classes are $10 each per handler.
Rally
Open to puppies and dogs 6 months and older who can walk calmly on a leash. Rally is a fun activity where owners read road signs and together dog and owner work to follow the instructions. Classes are limited to 6 handlers.

Club Application
Active club members get a discount for all classes except Handling. Please fill out this form to apply and pay your fees. To become active, you must attend meetings and assist with shows and other activities. If you are an inactive member, you will not receive a discount. Generally it takes about three months to be considered an active member. Ask about how this affects your discount.
